Chip and Naomi have a long history in the comic, and I wanted to acknowledge that that has not gone away. It was going to play an important part in why Naomi reset continuity, but I have totally slacked on that. I mention it here, and...that's about it. ([link]) So I'd like to start playing with that a little, although really, how much soap operatic drama can one webcomic handle? Anyway, Chip's on drugs in this timeline, too! The altered timeline is starting to fall apart. Which means Naomi gave up a lot and probably failed. What you expected different from me?
The writing is recycled from a novel I will never finish, it was easy to adapt it to Downfall since I am capable of writing in only one narrative voice, apparently. Still, I always liked it, and I am happy with this strip, so I am glad it found a home where at least a handful of people will see it.
